My second daughter has a unique behavior. She doesn’t like to use the toilet in other people’s homes. She could easily use the toilet at an eatery, church, school or office, but when it’s another house, it’s a different ballgame altogether.
Yesterday, she and her elder sister went to play at their friends house. She felt like using the toilet, at the same time, was engrossed in play and eventually pooped on herself.
Her sister brought her back home and I cleaned her up. It amused me that she didn’t even feel a bit embarrassed, but was very eager to go back and play with her friends.
Today, while I was making breakfast, my first daughter said “Mummy, I still can’t get it off my mind that Hadassah pooped on herself yesterday.”
“Why?” I asked, a little bit shocked.
“I was worried that the poop would never go away.”
“But I cleaned her up immediately and this thing happened yesterday. Why are you still worried?”
“I don’t know.”
I smiled. “It was just a mistake. The person that you are worried about has already forgotten what happened and moved on with her life. That is how it should be. Everybody makes mistakes. When you make a mistake, you learn from it and move on. You don’t need to continue thinking about it, okay?”
She nodded.
As I was speaking to my daughter, those words were also resounding in my ears.
How do you handle your mistakes?
What do you do with yesterday’s poop?

Lol…interesting post. Well honestly I used to beat myself up whenever I made a mistake or got embarrassed at my actions which are not totally my fault, I’d ponder on it and what “people” around thought when the incident occurred but now, I have developed some kind of confidence and courage to face my fears. I see mistakes as an unintentional occurrence and I can only learn from it. I let bygones be bygones, that’s what I do with my yesterday’s poop😅

Amen! I’m glad it spoke to you Tammy. It’s better to get up and move on than wallow in yesterday’s poop. 🙂
How are you doing? It’s been a while.

Yes, yes indeed! We need to learn and become stronger and wiser from our mistakes, that allows us to grow and move forward.
I’m good, fighting the good fighting, maturing in Christ, loving Him and what about you?
